HomeSense Hauling

If you saw Monday's post, you'll have seen that I was lucky enough to attend the preview evening for the new HomeSense store that opened in Hedge End, Southampton. Us bloggers were lucky enough to be given gift cards to spend on anything that caught our eyes on the night.

There were so many different things to look at, with everything from stationery, to candles, to ornaments, it was a little overwhelming to begin with. Once I'd given the shop a once-over, I grabbed a basket and settled down to business.

Candles were one thing I had my mind set on from the start. Burning scented candles on a wintery evening is one of my favourite things about the season, and I needed to restock. The first one to catch my eye - or my nose - was this Spiced Pumpkin candle in a gorgeous glass jar.

This candle was the most festive scent I found on the night, and it was one of the first items that caught the attention of multiple bloggers. It reminds me of Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Lattes and cosy nights in with a good book - a classic autumnal scent in other words. I've already been burning this one, such a nice candle to burn in the evenings.
After a good while in the candle aisles - yes that's right, multiple aisles, thank you HomeSense - I also picked up this gorgeous Black Tea and Plum scented candle from Olivia Blake London and the Ambience Spiced Pear candle from Morgan and Grace. These two brands are not ones that I'm familiar with, but by standing and smelling them, they were the two other candles I had to pick up. These would both make fabulous gifts, especially the Olivia Blake one. The packaging reminds me of Jo Malone candles, but for a fraction of the price. I'll definitely be heading back for a bit of Christmas shopping - I love gifting candles, everyone loves them right?

As well as a selection of candles, I couldn't resist picking up this gorgeous weekly planner. They were lined up as you joined the queue to pay - why do I always get caught there? I'm not the most organised person, so I think it should be my New Years' Resolution to change that. I wanted something that was large enough to write plenty in, yet small enough to carry with me on a daily basis. And with green and gold being a colour combination I am drawn too, this was the perfect choice. Hopefully I'll get lots of use out of it.

I love all the bits I've picked up from HomeSense last week. Have I tempted you to pick anything up? Or are there any things I should look for next time I make a trip over?
Until next time,
Lexie

HomeSense Preview Evening

Last week, the latest HomeSense opened in Hedge End, Southampton, and on Wednesday evening, they opened their doors for an exclusive preview event that some of the Southampton Bloggers were lucky enough to attend. This was my first visit to HomeSense, but I had heard some fab things beforehand, so I was super excited. The new Hedge End store is combined with TKMaxx, somewhere I’ve shopped a few times in the past, and I couldn’t wait to start wandering around with my fellow bloggers.
We were greeted by staff, and offered a glass of fizzy and a gift card in case we saw anything we just couldn’t leave without – thank you HomeSense. I was in interiors heaven, with HomeSense offering everything from furniture to ornaments (and I’ve always had a thing for knick-knacks). It was lovely to wander round the store, dreaming about kitting out my future home.

With Christmas just around the corner, HomeSense was well and truly kitted out for the holidays. They had plenty of festive themed tables covered in decorations, and a decorated tree here and there. One thing that really caught my eye was this adorable little penguin – so cute.

In typical blogger fashion, there were a few aisles that grabbed our attention instantly. We were all drawn to the stationery aisles, where there were rows upon rows of notebooks and diaries. There were motivational quotes galore and various beautiful colours and shades.

Scented candles were my top priority, as I love burning them especially during the autumn and winter months. There were so many to choose from, I was a little overwhelmed, I won’t lie. I particularly loved smelling the Christmassy scents!

And then there were the makeup aisles. Once we beauty bloggers realised that we could pop over to the TKMaxx side of the store, we were off! If you’ve never popped into TKMaxx, I would definitely recommend it. There’s the possibility of grabbing some fabulous deals, with loads of brands being offered at discounted prices. I love having a look at the makeup bits, and some of the girls found some great items.

I had a fabulous time wandering around the new store and picking up some fun products with the girls. Thank you so much to HomeSense for inviting us, it was such a fun evening.

The Netflix Tag

I’ll admit, I’m a little late to the Netflix game. When I first saw Alice create this tag, I just couldn’t complete it, but now I’ve joined the Netflix masses and can answer Alice’s questions, yay! If you haven’t seen Alice’s original tag you can check it out here!
1. What are your favourite series’ to watch on Netflix?
Pretty Little Liars and Gossip Girl – I could rewatch these over and over and over again. They’re so addictive, and once I get going, I marathon these. I love Once Upon A Time too, but I need to get back into watching that.

2. What are you currently watching on Netflix?
I’ve just started watching The Originals from Season One. I watched this, and some of The Vampire Diaries a few years back, but I’m going to try and get back into it.

3. If you could have any series, old or new, put on Netflix, what would it be?
Waterloo Road. I loved that show, and was so upset when it ended. It would be fab to have it all in one place, so I can start it all over again.

4. What is your one pet peeve about Netflix?
More often than not, it doesn’t have a complete series of films. If I want to have a marathon of Iron Man films, I need them all.

5. What are your essentials for a perfect night in with Netflix?
PJs and my dressing gown, a hot chocolate and some snacks – ideal.

6. Recommend one series or film for someone else.
Once Upon A Time – it’s amazing, and I don’t think enough people watch it.

I’m sure the longer I use Netflix, the more shows I’ll discover – so if you have any recommendations, let me know in the comments! I hope you’ve enjoyed this post. Now, I tag:

What Blogging's Given Me...

Now that I've been blogging more frequently for about six months, I've been feeling a little nostalgic. When I decided to commit to LifeLoveLexie, I never imagined that I would be attending events, working with brands, and making friends. I thought I'd take this opportunity to share the love and introduce a few of the lovely local blogging girls who have made this such a fab journey!
Along with these girlies I've attended so many events, and they've helped me to grow my little corner of the Internet to what it is today. I met all of these lovely girls through the Southampton Bloggers, and despite being absolutely terrified before my first event, everyone I met was so lovely and welcoming, you instantly felt part of the group. There are the girls I talk to daily, and the ones I catch up with at events, as well as all the familiar faces that you see around. As a newer blogger, I would 100% recommend looking out for your local blogging community, as they provide you with a variety of people to get to know and to chat all things blog!

I just want to take this opportunity to say thank you to all of the lovely girls I've met through blogging. I've felt so welcomed by everyone, and it's definitely provided me with a great support system, which I'd be lost without.
Until next time,

Currently Loving - Bobbi Brown Telluride Shimmer Brick

When the Telluride Collection was announced by Bobbi Brown this summer, I knew that I had to own the limited edition Shimmer Brink in Sunset Pink. The colours were right up my street, with a selection of pink and bronze shades, and as an avid shimmerbrick lover I couldn't wait to pick it up!
DSC_0151
The shimmerbricks from Bobbi Brown are a great addition to any makeup kit because of their versatility - this shade in particular! I have used it as a blush, eyeshadow and, most often, a highlight. With five shades in the palette, I can alternate between using the colours individually and blending them all together.
DSC_0155
I used this so much over the summer months, with it looking beautiful as a highlight with bronzed skin and a coral toned lip. As eyeshadow, this was a beautiful day-to-day smoky eye, with lashings of mascara and a nude lip. I would definitely recommend picking up a shimmerbrick, or at least popping into store to have a look. Even though this colour was limited edition, the colour pay-off in general is incredible - you'll love it, I'm sure!!

Do you have any favourite items from Bobbi Brown? What would you recommend?
Until next time,
Lexie
