Ruma Salon Shellac Experience

When I visited Ruma Salon in Bursledon for their Bloggers Event, I fell in love (read about the event here)! The salon was gorgeous, the atmosphere was relaxed, and the staff were so friendly. It'll come as no surprise, then, that I couldn't wait to go back. I booked in for my first ever Shellac* and eagerly anticipated my next visit. And I wasn't disappointed!

Once again, everyone was so welcoming and friendly, instantly relaxing me. Surely I'm not the only one who finds the initial walk in to a salon a little daunting? I was seated at one of the nail tables, offered a variety of drinks, and was then left with the most difficult task - picking the colour! Ruma use CND Shellac products, and I picked the combination of Dark Dahlia (a deep burgundy) and Nordic Lights (a glitter/shimmer) -what an autumnal choice!
As I've said, I'd never used Shellac before. I went through a phase of acrylics (which ruined my nails), and I have a Sensationail kit I sometimes use, but I was excited to give Shellac a try. And I wasn't disappointed.

The process was much softer on my nails, with none of the heavy buffing used for acrylics. My nails felt well looked after the whole time, and still feel fab now. Shellac is meant to help your nails grow, and it let's them breathe even under layers of polish. I often find my nails get soft if I leave them painted for too long, but I hate having them nude, so you see my dilemma.
Days later, they're still as shiny as when I left the salon and no chips yet, wahoo!! Shellac is said to last 14 days, which is great for someone like me who chips their polish really easily. I do love changing colours though, and with Shellac this won't be as easy. I'm intrigued to see how long this Shellac does last, and I might be converted! They're a great choice for the holiday season though, lasting for numerous work parties and nights out with the girls.

Have you tried Shellac? Do you think I should keep it up? Have I tempted you to try it yourself?
Until next time,
