Mix & Mask with Origins and British Beauty Blogger

I’m a big fan of Jane from British Beauty Blogger, and always trust her recommendations. I’m also a great lover of Origins Skincare, so when I saw that the two were collaborating on the Mix and Mask Box, I was all over it. A box of skincare goodies curated by one of my favourite bloggers? Sign me up. When I saw the release announcement, I grabbed my debit card and placed my order - I mean, how could I not? And now that it’s here, I thought I’d share the box’s contents with you, and let you know what I’m looking forward to trying.

The first item in the box I was drawn to was the Maskimizer Skin Optimising Mask Primer. When this was first released, I was really intrigued by the prospect of a pre-mask spritz, it seemed like a really cool idea. I would never think of priming my skin before using a mask. Jane describes this as a light-feeling mist (which I am all for), which hydrates and softens the skin so it’s ready for a mask, working in a similar way to essence lotions that prep the skin for a cream. I’m really excited to give this a go.

Next up, we have the By All Greens Foaming Deep Cleansing Mask. This was not something I’d heard of before, and I’ll admit that I was a little confused by a foaming mask, but I’m willing to give it a go. Jane suggests using this the morning after a big night, or for clogged and dull complexions. Hands up if that sounds like something you need? Packed full of green tea, spirulina and spinach in a clay base, this mask screams “I’m good for you” to me. I’m looking forward to giving this a go.

The next mask to come out of the box is an old favourite of mine, the Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask. I picked this up a couple of years ago on the recommendation of Suzie from HelloOctober, when I was suffering with some facial eczema. I loved it as a night cream, and I was glad to see it had made its way into the Mix and Mask Box. This blends avocado, apricot kernels and Japanese seaweed makes the mask smooth on the skin, and instantly hydrating. I love it, and I’m so pleased I’ve got a fresh tube.

The GinZing Peel-Off Mask is next up. This bronze (yes, bronze) is a really exciting addition. Not only is your face metallic while it’s working, but it leaves skin looking and feeling fresher and brighter. With coffee beans, fruit acids and panax ginseng working together to get rid of those old skin cells - what more could we want?

Another exciting addition to the box is the Original Skin Retexturizing Mask. I was really excited about the launch of the Original Skin Serum (although I'm yet to buy a full size), so when I saw this mask in the box I was super excited. This mask features Mediterranean Rose Clay, Canadian WIllowherb and exfoliating Jojoba beads, which all work together to gently deep clean, refine the skin's texture and restore radiance. I do think I struggle with my skin's texture, especially as I struggle with acne. I'm looking forward to trying this, and can see it being an item I pick up once this tube is all gone.

The final mask offerings are the Origins Mask Pods. These are one use pods, ideal for travelling or treating once and a while skin issues, plus they’re great for trying new masks out. Let’s face it, there’s nothing worse than buying the full size of a product, using it and finding you don’t like it. So now, I’ve got the opportunity to try Clear Improvement mask for when my skin is playing up, the chance to try Out of Trouble for those troublesome breakouts and oily patches, and a little shot of the Drink Up 10 Minute Mask for a quick hydration fix from the sister product of my favourite  mask. I might even give the multi-masking trend a go, giving topical application of certain products to certain areas of my face.

Once all that masking is done, you need to moisturise, so our final treat is the VitaZing SPF 15 Energy-Boosting Moisturiser. Recommended for skin that lacks radiance and energy, this is a self adjusting tint that leaves your skin looking hydrated and dewy. Yes please!

So, with a box full of Origins goodies, compiled by one of my favourite bloggers, I’ve got high hopes for my skin. I should have a flawless, glowing face in no time.

Did anyone else pick up an Origins and British Beauty Blogger Mix and Mask Box? What should I try first?

Love Lexie
