September Boots Haul

It's been a while since I really explored the displays at my local Boots beauty hall, so on a recent solo trip into town, I took my time to really peruse the counters, and pick up a few new items. There had been some new launches that I wanted to try, and a couple of products that had been around for a while but that I wanted to pick up. The damage to my bank card was impressive, but it provides the perfect topic for today's post.

My first port of call was the Sensationail display. Since leaving my job at my local hospital, painted nails are now firmly back on my radar, and my sister Libby loves using our Sensationail kit, so I thought I'd treat us to a new colour. My nails haven't really been very strong since my love of acrylic nails a few years ago, but Libby really recommends using Sensationail for helping to strengthen her nails and keeping them protected - I'm all up for that! I picked this nude pink shade called Pink Pawn. I really love this sort of colour; it goes with any outfit or makeup choice, and just looks really polished. I can't wait to try this out soon!

I've fallen back in love with L'Oreal as a brand recently, with some new and re-discoveries making their way into my daily makeup. That being said, is it a surprise that I found myself taking full advantage of the three for two offer Boots had on...

First on my list was the Infallible Makeup Fixing Mist. I've been on the lookout for this since I saw it on Tati's YouTube channel GlamLifeGuru last year, but it seemed to take forever to be released this side of the Atlantic, and once it had, I already had a different setting spray on the go. So now, with that bottle well and truly finished, I had no excuse not to pick it up. I'm sure it'll be a great addition to my makeup routine.

I'm sure you've realised by now that I'm a bit of a lipstick addict. I'm always looking for new colours to add to my collection, and trying new brands and releases. So surprise, surprise, my other two L'Oreal purchases were lip products. First to find its way into my basket was the Infallible Mega Gloss in 404 Raspoutin-Me. This is the Matte formula of the gloss - I've tried the Cream formula before and fallen in love, so I thought I'd try another one. I loved this red colour, and couldn't resist. As much as summer may be slipping through our fingers, I'm sure I'll squeeze in a bit of wear before the end of the year.

My final L'Oreal purchase was a new release. I'd seen the Gold Obsession Lipsticks online, so having the chance to swatch them all in store was exciting. I'm a big fan of dark reds and purple toned lipsticks for the autumn and winter months, so when I saw the Plum Gold lipstick, I knew it would come home with me. I can see this becoming a firm favourite this year - look out for it in posts to come.

Next up, I made my way round to Maybelline. I don't use a lot of Maybelline, but what I do use I tend to love, so I always pop over for a little look. And again, I wasn't disappointed, and took full advantage of the offer they had on.

First up, I was on the lookout for a new mascara. My current ones are running low, and I love trying something new. I don't tend to fall in love with mascara, so I don't tend to rebuy. I've not tried many from Maybelline, but I'd heard good things about their Falsies mascara, and when I saw this, The Falsies Push Up Drama, I was like "Yes please!"It just sounded like a mascara that was going to be right up my street. I mean, who doesn't want lifted, dramatic lashes? I'll be honest, I'm not overly impressed with this, I find it a bit too clumpy, but I'll try to make it work.

I've rediscovered my love of winged liner since watching the ten year anniversary specials of The Hills (I fully wish I looked like Lauren Conrad), so I needed a new one. I find that the liners from Maybelline are the best - they're easy to work with, and they'er nice and black, just what I want. I picked the Master Ink Satin liquid liner. I haven't used liquid liner in a really long time, so I think it might take a little while to get back into the swing of things, but so far, so good.

My final stop was the Revlon stand. I love a bit of Revlon, especially their lip products, so surprise, surprise, I utilised the three for two deal on two new lip products, as well as a new nail colour, all in the same colour family. Can you tell that I'm excited for autumn?

The nail colour I chose was the Colorstay Gel Envy polish in the shade 600 Queen of Hearts. This is a stunning deep red purple colour, perfect for autumn. I love wearing this colour in any way I can - nails, lip, clothes. I think it really suits my skin tone, and is the perfect colour for fall. Not only was I drawn to the colour, I was also intrigued by the whole collection. As I've said, I've got a new gel colour to use with my Sensationail kit, but I also like the convenience of a nail polish. I mean, who always has the time or patience to sit with the LED lamp all the time. #lazygirlalert. I'm sure I'll get lots of wear out of this colour this year.

Next up, I've got a repurchase of an old favourite product, but in a new to me colour. I fell in love with these Revlon Balm Stains when I was at uni, and had loads of nude and bright shades, but they've since gone off, or gotten broken. When I saw this colour, Crush, I had to buy it - it's the perfect shade for the transition from summer to autumn. It's one of those colours that is a fab nod to those winter shades I love so much, while still being bright enough to wear when the weather is still slightly summery.

Finally, I picked up the Revlon Ultra HD Lip Lacquer in Carnelian. It's another gorgeous berry tone, right up my street. Thinking about my collection, I don't have many glossy products in this sort of colour, so it'll get a lot of wear, I'm sure, both on it's own and layered with other lipsticks. In fact, I can see this going really well with the Crush Balm Stain. I particularly like the brush on this. Rather than the typical doe foot applicator, it's actually a bristle brush and I think it should be really good for applying gloss. I'm yet to wear this, but I'll let you know.

So that's it, my rather large, Boots haul. Typically I just buy products as and when I need them, so it was really nice to have a little splurge. I'm really looking forward to giving all these new products a go. Let me know if there's anything I should try first, or anything you would like to hear more about.

Love Lexie
