My Everyday Makeup for Uni

You might have seen that at the beginning of the month, I headed back to university after a year out to train as a teacher. I was really excited about heading back to uni, but I've been out of the student way of life for a while - bit daunting. In honour of the start of uni, I thought I'd have a rummage through my makeup drawer and pick out some bits to wear as my "everyday" makeup.

I love having a play around with different products, but on uni days, with limited time, I need to have a plan of action ready, so I can just move from one product to the next easily. That way, I don't have to worry about running out time in the mornings, and I get to rediscover easily forgotten products.

First up, base products. I'll be honest, I am no base expert, but a few of these products really are favourites of mine. I'm sure you'll have seen me rave about the L'Oreal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation in the shade 03 Vanilla before (I did a whole post on it here). It's so easy to apply, blends beautifully, and wears really well throughout the day. My concealer of choice at the moment is the Revlon ColorStay Concealer in shade Light/Medium. I'm normally an Urban Decay Naked Concealer lover, but I wanted a drugstore option to take to V Festival with me back in August, and when my usual Urban Decay option ran out, I continued with this. It's o.k. - nothing fancy, but helps cover those dark circles from the 6am alarm calls. I've also fallen hard for the Bobbi Brown Retouching Pencils (I did a whole blog post on them here), and they've slotted right in with my everyday makeup routine. I use the Light pencil under my eyes to help with those dark circles, while I use Illuminate on my Cupid's Bow and on my brow bone, to had a little highlight. I love them! Finally, to set all that into place, I use the Rimmel Stay Matte powder in Transparent. I've used this for years, and I just think it does the job well. I don't really see the appeal of a high end setting powder - is there any that I'm missing out on?

Next up, putting some colour back into my face. Let's be honest, once I've put my base on, I look a little lack-lustre, so I reach straight for those bronzers and blushers. At the moment, I'm really enjoying using my Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer in Luminous Bronze Light. It's just the right colour to take me into autumn, as it's not too warm. I was all too ready for the start of autumn and the return of the autumnal makeup choices, I can't wait to shake my makeup up properly. My blush of choice recently has been the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Luminous Flush. This is a beautiful, versatile shade, that goes with so many different lip colour choices. I'm all for versatile products, especially when I'm getting ready at 6am, with little time to think about what goes together. And my highlight of choice? It has to be Becca X Jaclyn Hill Highlight Champagne Pop. I fell in love with this when I picked it up on holiday in Florida back in April, and there hasn't been many days when I've not worn it. It really is a gorgeous colour. I need to try more of the collaboration.

For my brows, I tend to stick to the same products most of the time. To fill my brows in, I use the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer in Medium Brown. I really like this (it featured in my August Favourites post), and I just find it really easy to apply and blend. To help hold my brows in place, and add a different aspect to them, I'm using the Soap & Glory Archery Brow Gel in Brownie Point. This reminds me of Benefit's Gimme Brow, but a fraction of the price - I'm impressed.

I've rediscovered winged liner recently (thanks to watching The Hills Anniversary Special and reigniting my girl crush on Lauren Conrad), and because of that, I've moved slightly away from eyeshadow. I'm currently trying to master using the Bobbi Brown Sparkle Eye Shadow in Cement. Sound the bestie recommends klaxon - this was a product Ash has raved about for what seems like forever, so eventually I had to give it a go. Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure I'm not using it properly; I just can't seem to make it work. I'll keep trying, though! I then use the Rimmel Scandaleyes Liquid Eyeliner in Black. I like using felt tip liners like this, they're so much easier to use. They seem to run out quickly though, the only downside. Then I'm using a combination of mascaras: the Natural Collection Water Guard Mascara in Black and the Dior Diorshow Iconic Overcul Mascara in Black. I stumbled across this combination purely because my Dior mascara is running out and I'm trying to prolong its life as long as possible. It works really well though, giving length and volume - what more could we want?

Now, I'm a great lover of switching up my lip colours as often as possible. The two lip options I've been reaching for recently as the Revlon Balm Stain in Crush and the YSL Rouge Volupté Shine lipstick, but unfortunately the number has worn off so I can't identify the colour. The Revlon Balm Stain is such an easy way to wear a bold colour. You can pop it on with little hassle, and it wears nicely without going too patchy. The YSL was my first, ever high-end makeup purchase, and I still love it now. It's perfect for day-to-day makeup, and is so comfortable to wear.

I hope you've enjoyed this little look into my current everyday makeup bag. Are there any different products I should try?

Love Lexie
