Best Reads of the Year... So Far!

Now, it's no surprise that I love a good book. My English Literature degree definitely didn't put me off reading, that's for sure, and I've almost always got a book in my hand. This year got off to a pretty slow start, reading-wise, but I thought I'd share my favourite reads so far with you today.

First up, I read The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin. I'd seen this reviewed on YouTube a lot last year, and it had been sat on my shelf ever since. I am so glad that I finally picked it up. This was a lovely story about a bookshop owner who finds a young girl in his store, who he then adopts. The novel follows their lives in the years that followed, with his short reviews of different books woven throughout. It really was a beautiful story, one I would really recommend.

A book I knew I was going to love was Nicholas Sparks' latest release, See Me. I am a huge Nicholas Sparks fan, and I know that if I'm stuck for what to read, he won't let me down. This was no exception. I took this on my holiday to Tenerife in April and it was the perfect holiday read. The usual guy and girl, who on paper are quite different but make the perfect pair, overcome various obstacles in order to be together. What more could you want from a book, right?

The last book I've read so far this year that I think is worth a mention is Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon. I have seen it everywhere since it was released, and it was even featured in Zoella's Book Club last year. I fell in love with the main character Madeleine and her bravery, and I could not put the book down. I'd heard such good things but I did not see the twist coming at all. This was another one of my holiday reads and I finished it in a day and a half; it was the ultimate poolside read. If you pick any of these books up, I'd recommend this one!

You can keep up with what I'm reading over at Goodreads here. What are some of your favourite reads so far this year? I'm always looking for recommendations!

Love Lexie
