Five Go-To Coffee Stops

Being Southampton born and bred, and a coffee lover, I've seen more than a few cafes come and go over the years. I'm a big fan of the popular Costa and Starbucks, but I'm trying to support more independent establishments - their interiors are quaint and eclectic, and their products are always top notch. I thought I'd share my top five places to go in Southampton, for a mid-shopping coffee pitstop or a tasty spot of brunch.

First up, it'll be no surprise to those of you who follow me on Instagram, that I love Mettricks. It's my ultimate go-to most of the time. Whether I'm looking for a hot drink to warm me up during Christmas shopping, or a spot of brunch with Ashleigh, Mettricks wins time and time again. Their pancakes with maple syrup and bacon are to die for, and I have got nothing but praise for their white hot chocolate. If you're local to Southampton and haven't been yet, you are seriously missing out!

Next up, The Docks Coffee House down on Oxford Street. Granted, it is slightly out of the way from the centre of town, but it's worth the trip. Their Instagram is full of photos of their tasty treats and when you pop down you aren't disappointed. Delicious hot drinks and the tastiest of cakes - what more could you ask for?

If you're looking for a spot of coffee and cake at the other end of Southampton's High Street, I'd recommend Coffee Lab. It's cute and cosy, and has the best brownies in Southampton. Paired with a coffee or a hot chocolate, it's the perfect place to take some time out to enjoy a good book or a gossip with friends.

After a spot of brunch? One of my favourite spots is Rogues Cafe. I was lucky enough to attend a Bloggers Brunch there with the SotonBloggers last year and safe to say, we were all in love. The food was tasty, the coffee was good, and the cafe dog Percy is just the cutest.

My last recommendation for a brunch spot in Southampton is a newer one to mw - The Retro Cafe. I went here with a couple of old work friends and I was amazed that I didn't know about this little spot. It's quirky and cosy, with amazing food! I definitely need to head back soon!

Where are some of your favourite coffee spots in Southampton? Anywhere I haven't tried?

Love Lexie
