Grosvenor Casino VIP Experience | SotonBloggers

Surprisingly, I've made it to the age of 24 without ever setting foot inside a casino. Like ever. And there are a few in Southampton that I could have chosen. So when the invite to a VIP Experience at Grosvenor Casino* with the Southampton Bloggers dropped into my inbox, I jumped at the chance to give it a go.

On arrival we were offered a choice of drinks from their extensive drinks menu - including some fabulous cocktails - and were shown to our table for dinner. Having grown up in Southampton, and frequenting Odeon Cinema and Oceana a fair bit, I always knew where Grosvenor Casino was, but I never thought it would serve food. And such delicious food at that. The dining room isn't overly large, which really helps give it an intimate atmosphere.

The extensive menu really does cater for everybody - there are burgers, steaks, fish, chicken... I could go on. After lots of catching up with lovely blogging girls, we decided to order some starters. Now I'm a huge lover of Nachos and will order them whenever they're on offer. So it comes as no surprise that that's exactly what I ordered for my starter. And it was the largest portion of nachos for one person that I've seen in a long time - you could easily share this with someone, or even have it as your main course. There was just the right balance of guacamole, salsa and sour cream, as well as a good helping of melted cheese over the top. They were delicious - I was gutted that I couldn't quite finish them.

Next up were the mains. Again we were totally spoiled for choice, but in the end I opted for the Buttermilk Chicken Burger with fries. I'd like to think that I know a thing or two about different burgers. This one delivered. It was delicious, with the crispy outer coating of the chicken not making the meat dry, and lots of added extras. I loved the addition of the corn on the cob on the side - it's so delicious. Again, the portion size was large and I struggled to finish this, but it was well worth it. Some of the girls had steaks, which looked amazing, and again you're given lots of choices with regards to seasonings and sauces. I'd definitely think about trying a steak next time.

The girls who chose Steaks had so many different options to personalise their main meal.
Onto my favourite course - dessert. Unfortunately I was just too stuffed to consider having pudding (a sign of a good meal I think), but some of the girls tackled the dessert menu. The favourites seemed to be the Chocolate Roulade and the Waffles - and looking at these photos, I'm sure you can see why.

After dinner, it was time for the Roulette and Blackjack lessons. Unfortunately, I had to leave slightly early but the other Southampton Bloggers girls seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves. Their host Paul really looked after them, talking them through the basics of the games, how to place a bet and then how to play. Watching their Instagram stories on the night were a lot of fun. I'm gutted I couldn't stay for longer, but I'm hoping to go back soon.

A massive thank you to Grosvenor Casino for opening their doors to us - it was so nice to experience a night at the casino, in a totally different way to how I expected. Also a big thank you to Alice for organising another fab Southampton Bloggers event.
