T.V. Tag

I love television, much like everyone else, I expect. So, when I saw this floating around the blogs, I thought I would give it a go, and tell you about my favourite shows of the moment. I couldn't pick just one, so there may be a few of these posts popping up over the next few weeks.

What’s your favourite T.V. show?

From 1-10, how obsessed are you?
A solid 10!

Do any of your friends watch the show? Are they as obsessed as you?
I think fellow blogger Charlotte (Charlotte's Life 93) watches this but apart from that I’ve never seen anyone talk about it.

How did you discover the show?
I’m not really sure to be honest, I just know that I’ve been watching it with my family for about a year.

What was your first initial thought of the show and did it change after watching it?
To begin with, I wasn’t sure if I was going to like Arrow, as I’ve never really been a fan of superheroes and comic book adaptations. It’s a whole different story now!! I’m addicted to Arrow, I love the action and the romance running throughout.

Why do you like the show?
As I’ve just mentioned, I’ve grown to love the action that Oliver Queen and co bring to the show – something I never thought I’d say. Stephen Amell’s body probably helps quite a bit too, let’s be honest.

Who’s your favourite character in the show?
Felicity Smoak, hands down!! She’s got that geeky but girly persona down to a T, and I’ve enjoyed watching her put herself first, and develop into a strong, independent woman.

Who’s your least favourite character?
Captain Quentin Lance. Now I don’t want to spoil anyone about the show, but as vaguely as I can put it: Captain Lance is being a bit of an idiot, and is turning against Oliver, despite not really having a proper reason to. Understandably he’s a bit hurt, considering what has happened, but I think he could deal with it better. Jeez, rant over!!

How would you kill off your favourite character?
I’m sorry, but no, I couldn’t. It would break my heart to see Felicity leave. If I absolutely had to kill her off, it would have to be the result of her fighting against some sort of evil, because she has resisted being saved by Oliver.

Who’s your crush on the show?
The main man himself, Oliver Queen, a.k.a Stephen Amell. As I’ve mentioned, his body and face is to die for. As well as his physical attractiveness, I love his brooding personality, and his trepidation concerning commitment, because of the danger his work would place them in.

If you were to be a character, who would you choose?
Felicity Smoak. Intelligent, independent, sassy! And her wardrobe is on point!!

What’s your favourite episode?
I probably have two favourite episodes. I loved “The Secret Origin of Felicity Smoak” (Season 3, Episode 5), as my favourite character was the central focus of the episode, so obviously I was going to love it. I also loved “Draw Back Your Bow” (Season 3, Episode 7), which focuses on Oliver having to stop an Arrow-obsessed serial killer, Carrie. I thought Carrie’s character was hilarious!

What’s your favourite season?
As you can probably tell, I’ve been loving season three, which is currently airing on Sky1. Arrow is one of those shows that just gets better every episode.

Do you watch it when it airs or do you record it?
We record it, as it often clashes with other shows. But we’ll watch it in the same week it’s aired.

Who do you ship?
Felicity and Oliver – O.T.P.

Do you follow the cast on Twitter?
Those who are on Twitter, yes.

Which one of the characters would you like to meet?
Probably Felicity, she’s my favourite after all. I’d quite like to meet Thea Queen as well, her style is amazing, we could shop together!

If you could meet any one of the actors, who would you like to meet?
Stephen Amell, so I could be totally starstruck and probably make a fool of myself.

So that's my first T.V. Tag. I hope I've persuaded some of you to watch Arrow, it really is an awesome show!

Until next time...

OPI Fifty Shades of Grey Collection

I am probably one of the only English students who actually enjoyed E. L. James’ Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy (I will be discussing why I enjoyed the Fifty Shades novels in a later blog post, so I won’t rant too much about that now), and once I knew a film was being made – and Jamie Dornan was going to play Christian Grey – I was super excited! Like any film with a lot of hype surrounding it, Fifty Shades of Grey seemed to be popping up everywhere. One of the things that caught my eye was the OPI and Fifty Shades of Grey nail polish collection.

Now, I know I’m a sucker for packaging, and this purchase was no exception. The box was, expectedly, varying shades of grey, with the gorgeous Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson on the left hand side. As well as the box, my attention was grasped by the teeny tiny nail polish bottles. Anything miniature I think is so cute, and I knew I had to have these mini OPI polishes.

I’ve never tried any OPI polishes so I didn’t know what to expect when trying these. But the colours looked gorgeous, so I wanted to give them a fair chance. In the collection, you get six different colours: one metallic grey, three glossy grey shades, a grey toned glitter, and a red. I love them all, but it was the grey shades that really appealed to me. The names are cleverly tied into the film, so props to the OPI for that. We have My Silk Tie (metallic silver), Dark Side of the Mood (dark grey), Romantically Involved (red), Embrace the Gray (mid-grey), Shine For Me (glitter) and Cement the Deal (lightest grey). For some reason, I’ve been searching for grey nail polish, but couldn’t find one shade I really liked. In this set, I got three grey shades, to suit whatever mood I am in. I think grey polish looks gorgeous on the nails, especially in the winter, and I’m hoping they’ll look just as nice with a bit of a tan (although let’s be honest, the only tan I get is from the bottle).

I’m not sure if this is readily available anymore, as the film has been out now for a little while, but I wanted to share these gorgeous polishes with you.
Until next time,

Spring Additions

You wouldn’t think it if you looked out a window today, but spring has sprung! At last! I might be a winter baby, but I love it when the sun comes out and it gets a little warmer. Not only does it make everyone seem 1000x happier, but it means we get a beauty overhaul. The jumpers get put away for another year, and we can reach for the bright lipsticks. In honour of this, I thought I would show you some of the new makeup products I’m wearing this spring.

The L’Oreal La Palette Nude in Rose has been around since Christmastime, but I’ve only just purchased it myself. I was slightly worried about the pink tones, but once I swatched this in Boots, I just couldn’t resist. The pinks are so girly, and different from my usual bronze toned eyeshadows. I think this is a great addition to any spring makeup, and reminds me of the blossom that is popping up everywhere. This palette is great, the quality of the shadows is smooth and blendable, and the variety of shades means that you can create so many eyeshadow looks with just the one palette. For £14.99 you get ten shades, with a variety of mattes and shimmery shades. I would highly recommend this palette, it provides so much variety in just one palette. It’ll be great to travel with, with so many shadows in such a slimline package, with shadows for both day and night. A great choice.

Lip products are my go-to when trying to update my everyday make-up look from season to season. Quite often, my eyeshadow looks will be the same day in day out. But with a different lip colour, I could have different make-up every day – score! From the drugstore, I’ve fallen in love with the Rimmel Apocalips Matte in Orange-Ology. For £6.49, I am so impressed by the colour payoff you get from these. I was in love with the original Apocalips, and once I saw this matte orange shade, I knew I had to have it. Admittedly, it probably is a little bright for spring. But, come summer I can see that this will be one of my most worn lip products.

In a similar shade, I also love the Bobbi Brown Sheer Lip Colour in Orange. Because this is a sheer formula, it is easier to wear on a day-to-day basis. It gives just the right amount of colour to your lips without you looking too overdone. I love it, and wear it regularly.

A relatively new addition to my lipstick collection is Up the Amp by MAC. The Amplified Creme finish of this lipstick means that not only is the colour payoff incredible, but it is also really comfortable to wear. I suffer with awfully dry lips, meaning that wearing lipstick can sometimes be an issue for me. However, with this lipstick I can have the best of both worlds – an amazing lip colour and the hydration I need. The vibrant pinky purple shade has cool undertones, not something I would necessarily go for every day, but I think it is a great alternative. Teamed with nude shadow and winged liner, this colour looks amazing.

The most recent addition to my extensive lipstick collection is the Dior Fluidstick in Magique (479). I’ll admit, I am a sucker for packaging, and this packaging did not disappoint. It’s clean and sophisticated, and deceptively looks like a usual lipstick – something I find hilarious! The colour is a bright pink, but it is more neutral than the other colours I’ve shared. It’s a colour than can easily be worn with various eye looks, one of the things I love about pink lip colours. I love liquid lipsticks in the summer, they are so long-wearing that I can apply it first thing in the morning and not have to worry about it throughout the day. Definitely a winner!

So these are some of the products that I am looking forward to wearing throughout the spring and summer this year. Even though the weather here is a little grey today, I know these colours will bring a little springiness to my day.

What are some of your favourite products to use in the spring or summer? Have I tempted you with any of these products?

Until next time…
