The Southampton Meet Up

This past Saturday, I attended my first ever Southampton Bloggers meet-up, organised and hosted by Alice and Amy. Being a newbie blogger, I was both nervous and excited, but I dolled myself up – post on that coming later in the week – and set off for the City Centre. I met a few other bloggers beforehand, and we grabbed some doughnuts and shakes, had a bit of a natter, then headed off to the meet-up.

Our venue for this meet-up was the newly renovated Revolution, in Bedford Place. Revolution is an old haunt of mine, but it was a lovely opportunity to see the renovations, and the upstairs Stoli Bar provided the perfect amount of space for all us local bloggers. There were around 35 of us, plus a few brand representatives, but the whole day felt really intimate and not crowded at all.

We were joined by some amazing brands, including Hairfinity, Jude’s Ice Cream, and ESPA, and were spoilt for things to do, what with a speed braiding challenge, mini skin consultations, ice cream and cocktails. What more could us bloggers ask for?

It would be impossible for me to pick a favourite aspect of the day, there were so many great parts. We were lucky enough to be given a month’s supply of Hairfinity supplements (something I’ve been intrigued by for a while), Jude’s do the best Ginger Spice ice cream, and ESPA provided us with both a selection of sample products to try that were tailored to our skin type, and a voucher for a free facial, and there were some delicious cupcakes courtesy of Love Cake Bakery.

Alice and Amy organised a fabulous raffle to raise money for Epilepsy Society. There were some amazing prizes. Including some from Benefit, Sensationail, Bee Good, and many more! The most incredible prize was two tickets to London Fashion Weekend – congratulations Ami! Such a shame I didn’t win anything, but I’m glad I could contribute to the donations for such a great cause.

Despite not being very lucky with the raffle, we were all really spoilt with not one, but two goody bags! Alice and Amy did a brilliant job getting so many amazing companies involved, and our bags were overflowing with products, samples, and flyers. I can’t wait to try everything out, and hopefully discover some new favourite products.

Overall, the day was an absolute success! The raffle raised an incredible £350, and the event was a fantastic opportunity for me to meet fellow bloggers and discuss all things from blogging advice (which is so helpful for a newbie like me), to general conversations about our lives. It was such a nice opportunity to get to know the others, and everyone made me feel so welcome, it was like I’d known everyone for ages! I had a truly fabulous day, and I hope I have the opportunity to attend more meet-ups with the local bloggers in the future.
