As you might have seen, I’ve recently celebrated my 22nd birthday, and it was lovely to have the opportunity to dine out with my family. I love the family-friendly and inviting atmosphere of restaurants like the Harvester and Beefeater chains, and we thought this would be a great opportunity to try out the newly-renovated Beefeater at Chandler’s Ford, The Hut.

I personally had never been to The Hut beforehand, so I can’t comment on its old appearance, but some of my family who had been said that the new look is much nicer. It’s so warm and welcoming, with a rustic feel to the restaurant, and a recurrent image of a cow throughout – playing up to the steak focus of the Beefeater chain. There’s plenty of seating, with a mezzanine floor, and a selection of tables and booths. You can tell that the restaurant caters for a variety of people, with something to offer couples, families, and large parties alike.

The menu has something for everyone as well, with so many dishes to choose from – I definitely found it a tough choice. Eventually I settled for the Meatballs and Linguine*, a firm favourite of mine, and I was not disappointed. I got three 2.5oz meatballs, alongside a bowlful of delicious linguine and tomato sauce, and by the end of it, I was absolutely stuffed.

Being full after my main was both a blessing and a punishment – I’d had a delicious, hearty portion of pasta and meatballs, but I am a pudding girl at heart, and I just couldn’t fit one in. Thankfully (or cruelly) my dad and grandad had puddings, so I could see what I was missing. They went for the Apple Caramel Betty* and the Raspberry Bakewell* – they looked incredible.

Overall the evening was really enjoyable. We were looked after by Katy primarily, and she was so chatty and friendly. We had delicious food in a comfortable, relaxed environment. It was a lovely way to spend my birthday.

Until next time,
Lexie
