I’m lucky enough to attend various events with the sotonbloggers and
when the email dropped into my inbox inviting me to an evening spent with the
lovely ladies at Giorgio Armani in my local John Lewis, I couldn’t resist. I’ve
never tried anything from Armani’s beauty range, so I was looking forward to
seeing what they had to offer and learn a bit more about the brand. When we
arrived at the counter, we were greeted by the lovely Kayley and Steph with a
glass of Prosecco, a bloggers’ favourite. After a quick mooch around the
counter, we were guided over to our little area for the evening, where we were
talked through Armani’s summer look.
The girls started at the very beginning, by cleansing and prepping the
lovely Emily’s skin. The stand out product for me had to be the Maestro UV SkinDefense Primer. Anything that will prolong my makeup is a must, and UV
protection is something I’m really starting to think about, so this is the best
of both worlds. Not only does it offer skin protection and longer lasting
makeup, but due to the formula, it doesn’t give off that horrible flashback all
good selfie lovers hate. SPF 50 and
no flashback? Sign me up! The price tag is a little steep for my soon-to-be
student budget at £40 a bottle, but a wishlist product for sure. A little goes
a long way after all, so it’d be an investment, right?
Once Kayley had taken care of skincare, Steph moved onto makeup. I
finally got to see the notorious Luminous Silk Foundation in action (on someone
other than the Kardashian girls), and safe to say it’s glorious. I was lucky
enough to be colour matched to shade 4, and given a sample to try – I’m so
excited to give it a go, I’m sure I’ll love it. We were introduced to the
Maestro Liquid Summer, which I was a little apprehensive about a first, but on
swatching it, I fell in love. I never thought I’d like a liquid bronzer, but
this was so blendable. I’d love to add it to my collection, but at £40, it’s
gone straight onto my wishlist. Teamed with the Fluid Sheer, which comes in a variety of different colours so you can find something to fit your tastes, it really is the
ideal summer makeup look, bronzed and glowing.
My favourite product of the evening was the new Sepia Palette, as
part of the Sepia Collection. Hands up who loves a multi-purpose product? I
certainly do. And this fits the bill perfectly. This can be used all together,
used all over the face for even more of a bronze glow, or separately to sculpt
and highlight your face. I’d also use the colours individually as eyeshadows, I
think they’d make a great eye look. The palette retails at £60, but as a
bronzer, contour, highlight and eyeshadow, I’d say that’s justifiable – right
haha? Steph finished Emily’s makeup with Giorgio Armani Rouge D’Armani lipstick
in Bamboo. This was a gorgeous nude brown shade. A stunning colour to tie the
bronzed makeup together. I loved the finished look.
The rest of the evening was spent mooching around the counter, where
obviously I was going to pick something up. I chose the Giorgio Armani EcstasyLip Lacquer in Boudoir 502, which was £27. I’ve fallen in love with matte liquid
lipsticks at the moment, so I thought I’d give this long lasting, glossy lip
colour a try. The colour is stunning, and I’m sure I’ll get a lot of use out of
it.
We were lucky enough to be given a little goody bag by the girls from
Giorgio Armani, and I couldn’t wait to get home and have a rummage through what
we had been gifted. We were lucky enough to be given a little box with three
mini products in, all of which I can’t wait to try. The best sample in my
opinion has to be the Maestro UV Primer I mentioned earlier. I think this will
be great for night out makeup, to minimise that dreaded flashback. I also
received a small sample of Crema Nera Extrema Cream. I’m quite getting into skincare, thanks to my
bestie Ashleigh, so I’m excited to give this a try. The final sample sized
product we received was a miniature Giorgio Armani Privé Rose D’Arabie perfume.
I love a good perfume, and this is the ideal size to shove in my handbag. And
it’s a spray rather than a rollerball, something that is hard to come by in sample sized perfumes.
I had an absolutely fantastic evening with the Giorgio Armani beauty
team at John Lewis Southampton, and am so thankful for the goodies they gave
us. I can’t wait to give them a try. Have you tried any Giorgio Armani makeup?
Is there anything I should try?
Love Lexie
