When the
hype for the new foundation release from L’Oreal first started, I was a little
apprehensive. A foundation cushion? How does that even work? I put off trying
it because I was sure that it wouldn’t suit my skin type or foundation
preferences. But when I finally headed into Boots and gave it a little swatch,
I was more than pleasantly surprised.
As a general
rule, I like quite a full coverage foundation, as my skin is quite blemished. Despite
this, I like something quite dewy and natural looking, so I can be a little
picky, especially when it comes to drugstore foundations. When the L’Oreal Nude Magique CushionFoundation was first released, beauty bloggers, YouTubers and friends alike
were raving, so I thought I’d head into town for a little investigation.
I picked up
the foundation in shade 03 Vanilla. I sometimes find it tricky to pick the
right colour in drugstore foundations because there isn’t quite as much choice,
but L’Oreal always does me well. This matches my skin really well, and is
similar colourwise to some of my other favourite foundations. The thing that
really surprised me was the formula of the foundation. I expected it to be
really thin, and quite dry I think, but this is actually quite wet – but in a
good way. A little goes a long way, but it’s a foundation that can easily be built
up, without looking cakey. I love wearing this foundation for every day, it’s
just so comfortable to wear. The biggest
selling point for me? The fact it can last a whole day of work. I work some
difficult shifts, and most days I apply my makeup at 5am. Most foundations have
definitely started to wear off by the time I get home around 4 in the
afternoon, but this keeps going. I don’t know what magic it is, but I love it!
Maybe it’s the formula, allowing layering, or maybe it’s the application, but
whatever it is, it’s great.
Basically, I’m
in love with the L’Oreal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation. It’s about time I found
a drugstore base product I really loved. I’m normally super fussy because my
skin can be a little uncooperative, but I can see this being a product I buy
over and over and over again. I’d definitely suggest you head down to your
nearest Boots or Superdrug and give this a little try instore – I bet you’ll be
impressed!
Love Lexie
