Vospers Woolston Masterclass

We've been lucky enough in Southampton recently to have a number of new eateries open, thanks to the launch of West Quay Watermark. But there have also been some new establishments popping up on my side of the water - one of which is the new burger joint Vospers, in Woolston. And this week, I was invited along to an evening of cocktails and burgers with the SotonBloggers*.

Recently, the development at Woolston Waterside has been really coming into its own, and I couldn't wait to head down to try Vospers. So, when the invitation for a cocktail masterclass and burger tasting dropped into my inbox, I knew there was no way I could turn it down.

When we arrived at Vospers, we were greeted by the friendly, warm atmosphere and the smiling faces of the staff - you're instantly made to feel totally comfortable. We were talked through the rundown of the evening, and then shown to our table, complete with its own bar.

While we all caught up with our favourite local bloggers, we perused the menu and ordered our burgers of choice. Once our orders were in, we were given the opportunity to try our hand at making our own cocktails - one called The Last Word. Roger, one of our hosts for the evening, was great at demonstrating what we needed to do and getting us involved with the making of our cocktails. Safe to say, I'm much better at drinking cocktails than making them, but I gave it a good go.

Once cocktail one was being sipped, our food arrived. I chose the Vospers Burger - the chicken burger on the menu - with a side of fries. It was delicious! One of the best chicken burgers I have had in a long time. My eyes were definitely bigger than my belly though - I was soon completely full!

Once we'd all had our fill of food, it was time for cocktail number two - Rum Swizzler! Now this was much more up my street, as I'm a rum girl at heart, and I couldn't wait to try it. The cocktail masterclass was once again really fun and I felt a real sense of accomplishment drinking the cocktail I had made. It was a big 10/10 for me!

Overall, it was an evening filled with good food, good drinks and good company. The food was delicious, and I was really impressed with the service. Considering we were a large group of diners, and there was a birthday party in as well, the food came out within a really good time, and all together. The decor has that cool, rustic feel to it, with lots of wood and appropriate mood lighting - I loved it! With an open kitchen and bar, you get a real look into how the restaurant works - you can tell a lot of though has been put into the design of the whole place.

I had a really fun evening - I'm so glad I've got such a fun place serving great food and drink right on my doorstep! If you're looking for a fab burger and a good ol' cocktail, I'd definitely recommend heading down to Vospers soon!

*I was invited for a complimentary evening as part of the SotonBloggers at Vospers, but all views are honest and my own.
