Well, somehow, we have come to the end of my favourite month of the year! There’s just something about
October that I love – the dip in temperature, the changing colours of the
leaves, the darker berry lipsticks. Heaven! But as the month draws to a close,
I think it’s only fair to look back over some of my favourites from the past
few months.
I’ve had a month of trying new beauty products and
rediscovering some old favourites, and it’s been great! One standout product
for me this month has been the Bobbi Brown Longwear Liquid Eyeliner in Forest
Sparkle. I fell in love with the Bronze shade when these were first released
but never really tried the green version. Well, September was the month of the
return of the winged liner and I thought I’d experiment with the green. Oh my
god, why did I wait so long? The colour is gorgeous, just the right amount of
sparkle, and it applies so easily. I’m definitely trying to be a bit more
experimental with my makeup, and this is perfect for that. And with the
changing colours of autumn, I think this will work really well with a berry
lip. I’m sure it will get a lot more wear in the months to come.
Officially starting work this month has meant that I had
been on the hunt for the perfect, easy day-to-day makeup. Let’s face it, even
the most makeup obsessed of us can’t always be bothered with full-on, blended,
slightly smoky eyeshadow at 6am. Cue my love of the Charlotte Tilbury Eyes toMesmerise in Marie Antoinette. This cream shadow is super pigmented and really
blendable – I literally pick up the tiniest amount on my finger, and then blend
it over my eyelid. You can build up the product to get a more intense coverage.
I’d 100% recommend picking it up.
News flash, I think I’ve found my perfect mascara – the
L’Oreal Paradise mascara. I’ll be the first to admit that it was the rose gold
packaging that drew me in, but once I tried it, I knew I couldn’t go back. It
lengthens, thickens, separates… what more could you ask for from a mascara? I’m
already on my second tube, and I can see this being a recurring purchase. It’s
just too good to turn down.
I’ve also fallen in love with the Vanilla Pumpkin range from
The Body Shop this month. I knew it was going to happen but the Shower Gel and Body Butter have definitely become firm favourites of mine. They smell amazing,
they leave my skin feeling incredibly soft and they don’t aggravate my
psoriasis. Winner! I’d fully recommend at least having a sniff of these instore
– I guarantee you won’t be disappointed! I’m going to be picking up spares!
But you know, it’s not all about the beauty products.
September and October have been pretty alright months, you know? I’ve seen lots of my
blogging buddies, helping Alice to make the most of her free time before Baby
Spake arrives, and welcoming Anna back from her Canadian travels. We’ve eaten
together a fair bit this month and it has been really lovely. My food highlight
has got to be the bloggers’ evening at Supermarine Woolston Waterside – you can
read the post all about it here. We ate, drank and laughed, and it really was
fantastic. I’ve recommended it to countless people and I can’t wait to go back
myself!
I’ve also been trying really hard to maintain my reading
despite being really busy with work. It’s going okay so far, and I hope it
continues. But this month, I jumped into Unfiltered by Lily Collins. I love
Lily, she’s absolutely stunning and she stars in some of my favourite films,
and when I saw that she’d released a book, I knew I had to buy it. It was really
good, exactly what I needed to read, and gave me a chance to really re-evaluate
what I want from life. I’d thoroughly recommend picking it up and giving it a
read – I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
That’s it, my ultimate favourites from October. Like I’ve
said, it’s been a really good month all round, and hopefully November will go just as well. What are some of your
favourites from this month?
Love Lexie
