Shrek the Musical | Mayflower Theatre

There is something about going to see a stage production of a story you are familiar with. Shrek the Musical was that sort of show for me. Having grown up watching the Dreamworks film, I know that story like the back of my hand. It was a big part of my childhood, and I couldn't wait to head to the Mayflower Theatre with the Southampton Bloggers to review the story reimagined as a musical*.

Wicked | Mayflower Southampton

Wicked... it's one of those musicals that everyone and their mother seems to have seen. Except me, that is. Somehow, I've managed to avoid seeing it on stage, or even any clips online. I knew a few words to "Defying Gravity" and that was it. So, when the invitation to join the Southampton Bloggers at the newly refurbished Mayflower Theatre to watch this masterpiece of a show, there was no way I could turn it down. And boy am I grateful for the opportunity. It has quite possibly become one of my favourite shows.

Living The Life of Kylie | Kylie Cosmetics Collection

The Kardashian/Jenner clan are everywhere, and they're not everyone's cup of tea. I'll be honest - I'm a big fan, trying my best to Keep Up... as much as I can. And the one family member who seems to be making a real name for herself is Kylie Jenner. When the 21-year-old reality star launched her cosmetics range, I was hooked - I knew there was nothing for me to do but to get online and order some products as soon as I could. Fast forward to now, and I seem to have amassed a little collection of Kylie Cosmetics.

Tale As Old As Time Afternoon Tea | Town House Kensington

It's no secret that I am a Disney fanatic - anything related to Disney and I'm there. I also love a good afternoon tea, so when I saw the Tale As Old As Time Afternoon Tea on a few people's Instagrams, I knew that one day, I would have to go. With both my mum and my sister celebrating some big birthdays this year, it was decided that we'd take a little family trip to London for the day for a spot of afternoon tea. How civilised!

My Top 10 Books To Be Read

A few posts ago, I shared my top 10 favourite books of all time. It's got me thinking about the books that I really want to get to soon and I thought I'd share them. Hopefully by listing them here, I can hold myself accountable for trying to get to them.

August Favourites

Somehow, we've come to the end of another month and we're heading closer to the end of the year. But, this does mean it's time to look back at the month and think about the products I've been loving this month. I've picked up a few new bits and pieces that have become staples in my beauty routine, as well as a rediscovery or two.

Top 10 Tips for NQTs

If you've followed me for a while, you might be aware that I qualified as a primary teacher in June 2017, taking on my first class in the following September. When I think back to my first year of teaching, I instantly think of one word - EXHAUSTING! The move from training to NQT year is insane, and I don't think anything could ever fully prepare you for it. A lot of the first term was spent absolutely knackered and with a tear or two. Teaching is definitely not an easy career to go into, but that first year is one of the most rewarding - you get to call a class of children your own (after muscling in on other people's classes during training), you get to decorate and organise the classroom how you want, and you get to teach how you want - this is what you've waited all this time for.

My Top 10 Favourite Books

For as long as I can remember, I've loved having my nose in a book. I was always that kid who actually liked reading, I took that love for reading onto studying an English Literature degree, and now I'm a primary teacher, I try and ignite a love of reading into the children in my class. Unfortunately, teaching can be quite all-consuming so my time for reading has reduced quite substantially. But, during the summer holidays, I want to make a conscious effort to read a bit more. Admittedly, I'm two and a half weeks in and still on book number one, but I'm committed to reigniting my own love of reading. And I figured that the best place to start with this, was to think back about some of my favourite books of all time.

Bobbi Brown Nude on Nude Palette | Bronze Edition

If you've read my blog for any amount of time, you may already be aware that I love Bobbi Brown cosmetics. Bobbi products have made up a large proportion of my makeup collection for years - be it lipsticks, foundation, mascara and eyeshadows. I love following the BB Pros - Hannah Martin, Amy Conway and Aimee Morrison are my favourites - and keeping up with all the new releases. One of the recent releases is the Nude on Nude Eyeshadow Palette, coming in two variations, Rosy and Bronze. I love a good eyeshadow palette, and when I saw these, I knew I had to have one.

The Ultimate Cider Tasting Experience | The Stable Southampton

When Guildhall Square was revamped back in 2010, the area of the city was given a complete new lease of life, and The Stable became an established restaurant in Southampton. Known as the location for pizza, pies and cider, I'm not sure how I'd gotten to this point without visiting - I mean pizza and cider, what more could you want? So I jumped at the opportunity to visit The Stable with the Southampton Bloggers for an afternoon of cider tasting and delicious food.

Seaside in the Square Southampton

Living on the South Coast, I love to be by the sea, whether that's sitting down by Weston Shore in my car, walks along Lepe Beach with Stephen or taking a trip down to good ol' Bournemouth Beach during the school holidays. So when I heard that Guildhall Square, in the middle of Southampton City Centre was getting a beach for the summer, let's just say I was a little intrigued. Last week, I headed down with a group of Southampton Bloggers to see what Seaside in the Square was all about.

Astonishing | P&O Britannia

Growing up in Southampton, I am no stranger to the cruise ships. The summer months are filled with ships from different cruise companies docking in the port of my hometown, and I love seeing them, of all different shapes and sizes. Despite this, I had never been on a cruise ship before - I'd barely even set foot into the dock. So when the invitation to join the Southampton Bloggers onboard the P&O Cruises Britannia*, I couldn't say no! As I read the invitation further, I discovered that we were being invited to celebrate the premiere of the new entertainment show, Astonishing, and I couldn't wait to see what was in store for us.

War Horse | Mayflower Theatre

War Horse has been seen by over seven million people worldwide, completed a record-breaking eight year London run at the New London Theatre in March 2016, and has won 25 awards, including the Tony Award for Best Play on Broadway.  When War Horse first played the Mayflower Theatre in Southampton in February 2014, it unsurprisingly played to packed houses. And when it was announced that the National Theatre production of Michael Morpurgo's novel was returning to my local theatre, I knew I'd have to go. So when the invitation popped up to join the Southampton Bloggers for a night of stunning theatre*, I was over the moon.

New Fragrance Finds

Is there anything better than a spot of perfume shopping while on holiday? With the reasonable price points, and the variety available, it's so much fun. I was lucky enough to find an amazing beauty store just a short walk from our hotel in Tenerife. And obviously, I couldn't come home without a purchase... or two.

The Kite Runner Review | Mayflower Theatre

The Kite Runner has been a show that I wanted to watch as soon as I saw it on the Mayflower's overview for the year's shows. I've heard so many good things about the novel by Khaled Hosseini, but haven't yet gotten around to reading it - let's be fair, my to-read list is as long as both my arms, so it's not surprising. I couldn't wait to head down to the Mayflower Theatre to finally immerse myself in the story.

Makeup Counter Apprehension | YSL Touche Eclat All-In-One Glow Foundation

Raise your hand if you've ever been slightly intimidated by the thought of going up to a makeup counter to get your makeup done? Who here has ever ordered online to avoid going into store? Me! Sounds silly, I know, but I always worry about going up to the counter, especially if I want the artists to try a product out on me. Silly, right, because that's their job. So, when the opportunity arose for me to head into YSL at Debenhams Southampton to try their new foundation, I decided to follow my 2018 Goals (you can read that post here) and say YES.

I'm making no promises that I will stick to all of them, but I figured they'd at least be a good guideline. So without any further ado, here are my 18 goals for 2018!
