Supermarine X Southampton Bloggers

I can't think of any better way to spend a midweek evening than with my favourite group of bloggers at one of my favourite local restaurants. So when the opportunity arose to join the Southampton Bloggers at Supermarine Wood Fired Pizza in Woolston, I was over the moon. With a gorgeous, Mediterranean feeling interior, and a newly redesigned menu, I was expecting great things - and I was not disappointed.

As usual, we were greeted by a warm welcoming team, and shown to our gorgeously laid out table. We were treated to our taster of a variety of menu offerings throughout the evening, ranging from tasty starter plates, to the star of the show pizzas, and not forgetting the delicious desserts.

First up were the starters, to whet our appetites. There was Cured Ham and Breadsticks, and the most delicious Sausage and Cheese Bruschetta. The opening dishes were so tasty and ideal to either have a dish to yourself or to share a few plates with your party, as we did.

The star of the show the whole evening had to be the pizzas - after all, what else would you expect from Supermarine. The different toppings were divine, with some quite different ones to choose one. My favourite was the Spicy Meatball offering, as well as the Hawaiian. I'm looking forward to heading back to Supermarine to try a whole one of these pizzas soon.

Once the pizzas had been devoured (which didn't take long), my favourite course arrived - dessert. I'm a sucker for anything sweet, be it cake or ice cream, but when they team Nutella with a pizza base and strawberries, I don't know how anyone could expect me to turn it down. It was melt-in-the-mouth delicious. They were definitely a big hit with the blogging crew.

Alongside the mouthwatering foodie offerings, there was also a bar stocked full of beautiful wines and fun-sounding cocktails. I especially liked the sound of the Lemon Drop cocktail - super refreshing and not too sweet.

Overall, I loved the feel of this new menu and would thoroughly recommend heading down to try it for yourself. It's the epitome of authentic cuisine but in a local, well-sourced establishment. A massive thank you to Supermarine for hosting us and to Alice for organising another phenomenal Southampton Bloggers event.
