April 2018 Favourites

And just like that, April has come to an end and May is literally right around the corner. Where is this year going? But looking back, as well as loving the mini heatwave we had, I've discovered some amazing new products that I just had to share.

After months and months of waiting, this month I finally had my sunshine holiday to Tenerife - that's a favourite in itself. But with a holiday meant plenty of time for reading, hallelujah!! I hadn't read an awful lot so far this year (and I haven't read much since I've been home either), but with a whole week of sitting in the sunshine with a frozen cocktail in one hand, and a book in the other, it was bliss! One of the best books I read all week was Almost Adulting by Arden Rose. This was a birthday gift for Ashleigh, and it instantly piqued my confidence. It was funny, well written, and surprisingly accurate. If you're like me, in your early twenties and feeling like you're nowhere near perfecting this adulting thing, then this is the book for you. Some of the life lessons in there were things I definitely needed to hear. Let's smash this adulting thing!

I've been experimenting with different fashion items this month too. After much lusting after Abi's tassle earrings (and some encouragement from Abi too), I bought a fair few pairs of them from Lovisa and H&M in March, and I've loved these two pairs the most! They're from Lovisa and I love the colours more than anything. They got a lot of wear in Tenerife, when I got a bit dressed up for the evening. These gorgeous sunglasses from H&M also got a lot of wear on my holiday. I love the shape of these glasses and the coloured, reflective style - they looked great down by the pool. I'm hoping that I'll get to wear them plenty more over the summer.

If you've followed me for a while, you might be aware that I suffer with psoriasis on my elbows and knees. Now, the weather in Tenerife definitely helped to reduce this a bit and I was keen to capitalise on this. It'd been mentioned that the Child's Farm Sensitive Baby Moisturiser was good for psoriasis and eczema so I thought I'd give it a go. WOW! I've been using this twice a day everyday since I returned from Tenerife and my elbows look considerably improved. I never thought a cream from the shops could have such an effect, but it's amazing! If you suffer, give it a go!! What have you got to lose?

I've got a few new makeup favourites this month, as I've been trying out a few new bits and pieces. One launch I was so excited for the launch of the Bobbi Brown Dual-Ended Longwear Liquid Liner - I love liquid liner, and the opportunity to have two colours in one product was too good an opportunity to turn down. The colours I chose - Cioccolato and Frizzante - were totally up my street. I love a good brown liner, they're super wearable for everyday, and having the choice of a shade both with and without glitter means this one product is perfect for any makeup look.  I've also fallen in love with the Benefit Rockateur Blush. This mini blush was on offer in Boots for just £5, and it was the best £5 I've ever spent. It's a beautiful wash of peachy pink that adds colour back into your face without being too much. Ideal for someone who can be a little heavy handed like me.

If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen me raving about a L'Oreal lipstick recommended by Victoria. The L'Oreal Colour Riche Shine lipstick in 642 #MLBB has become a firm favourite, with it becoming a daily lipstick choice. It looks great with a really simple makeup look, but it can also be used with a bolder eye look - so versatile. After I fell in love with this one, I headed back to see which other colours I liked the look of. My second choice from the range was 352 #BEAUTYGURU. I love a red lip, and this is the perfect balance between a good colour payoff, while being glossy and comfortable. I'm edging away from the matte lips more in favour of the glossy lip, and this is a great addition to my collection. Definitely try some of these lipsticks - they're fab!

This month, I've had my hair cut and coloured - in hopes of sunshine and warmth, I've opted for a more blonde balayage. And that needs a wave, and a wave needs texturising spray. While I was in London in the summer, I picked up the Ouai Texturising Hairspray, but I didn't get much use out of it. And I have no idea why not. It's amazing, adding texture, as it says on the tin, but without being crunchy or too heavy in my thin hair. It really helps my hair to hold a curl and have that bitty, beachy look. So good!

My new blonder 'do is also a favourite
April has been a pretty decent month in terms of favourites. Lots of new bits that I'm sure I'll get much more use out of!

What have you loved this month?

  1. Love this sunglasses, they’ll look so good during the summer and for festivals, going to pop into H&M and pick myself up a pair. This month I have been loving all this skincare. I am currently trying some Pixi beauty skincare and it’s working a treat
