August Favourites

Somehow, we've come to the end of another month and we're heading closer to the end of the year. But, this does mean it's time to look back at the month and think about the products I've been loving this month. I've picked up a few new bits and pieces that have become staples in my beauty routine, as well as a rediscovery or two.

During a recent Boots visit, I had a mooch around the aisles, looking at some of the different brands that I don't often look at. One of these discoveries was the Being By Sanctuary Mango Warming Clay Face Mask. I've used some Sanctuary Spa products in the past, but hadn't seen this new range, so I couldn't help but have a sniff of all the different products. I loved the scent of this face mask, and I knew clay masks are supposed to be really good for your skin. I've had a few breakouts recently and this has definitely helped draw out those impurities. I was really surprised the first time I put it on because of the warming aspect, but it's become one of my favourite things. It's like you can feel the mask working. I'd definitely recommend this!

When I was looking at packing my beauty bag for my little staycation with Stephen, I was intrigued by the Dove Coconut Oil Shower Mousse, billed at being fabulous for showering and shaving. This seemed perfect and I loved the coconut scent. It was lovely to use, and it's stayed in my shower since I've been home. It smells delicious, it's easy to use and it leaves my skin feeling hydrated and soft - and at £3.99, it's an absolute bargain. Win win, if you ask me!

I've been trying to make the effort to try and use some of my makeup bits and bobs that get hidden away in my makeup bag. One such product was the Bobbi Brown Blush in Pale Pink, one of the first Bobbi Brown products I ever purchased. I was reminded about this beauty when BB Pro Hannah Martin was talking about recreating her wedding makeup and mentioned this blush. It looked so gorgeous on her, so I had to dig mine out. It's become my day-to-day blush choice - it just leaves me looking really naturally rosy and healthy, not too much. It's perfect for everyday.

Mascara tends to be the one makeup purchase that I'm always experimenting with. I struggle to find one that I really fall in love with and go back to but I do love the L'Oreal Lash Paradise Mascara. With the gorgeous summer weather we've been having in the UK (you can read that as really bloomin' hot), I figured that the waterproof formula would be the better choice for me, and boy was I right. It gives my lashes both length and volume, but without running the risk of it transferring onto your eyelids, or running down your face when you get a little bit hot. Yes, it is a little trickier to remove, but with a good eye makeup remover and a bit of perseverance, it's easy.

I've been a big fan of Kylie Cosmetics since Kylie first launched her lip kits, and every now and then I have a little look at the different shades and products that are available. During one of her latest deals for shipping, I picked up the Velvet Lip Kit in Strawberry Cream. I'd never tried any of the velvet formulas, but was interested in a formula slightly less drying and intense than the matte lip kits. Yes, you can't go as long without reapplying and checking for smudging as you can with the Matte Lip Kits, but I do find it more comfortable to wear. And the colour - oh the colour! It's a gorgeous bright pink (not something I would usually wear), but it's been so gorgeous throughout the summer months. For a gorgeous colour like this, I'll happily check for smudging every now and then.

So they're my August Favourites for this year. I'm always on the lookout for new favourites - be sure to leave yours down below.
