The location, the Town House Kensington, is just gorgeous! Situated in a stunning part of South Kensington, with gorgeous blogger-backdrop-worthy buildings surrounding it, I felt rather sophisticated walking inside. We were shown through to the dining room and seated at our table. We were left to peruse the drinks menu, before our host came to explain the afternoon tea to us.
The menu is created with the Disney film in mind, with lots of nods to the film throughout the session. Our savoury plate included Beef Ragu and Cheese Soufflé, both of which are mentioned in Lumiere's song "Be Our Guest". This was then followed by our sandwich selection, a nod to the English tradition of afternoon tea, with fillings like Cucumber & Cream Cheese, and Smoked Salmon & Crème Fraîche.
Now, it's no secret that I have a real sweet-tooth, so these were some of my favourite foods. There was a delicious Vanilla & Gold Jelly with a rose petal in, a nod to the enchanted rose in the film. This was delicious, especially compared to some of the really rich foods. My favourites were the Grey Stuff served in Chip mugs, a Cogsworth chocolate tart, and Marie's Sweet Brioche Baguettes with Apricot Preserve and Chocolate Pot.
I was really impressed with the thought that had clearly gone into creating the menu, as well as the friendly staff. It truly was a magical experience.
The Afternoon Tea is £42.00 per person, or £54.50 per person with a glass of Champagne.
