Alex Steinherr X Primark Skincare

I've followed Alex Steinherr, award-winning beauty journalist, on Instagram for a while - her stunning feed is full of cosmetic recommendations. So when I heard that she was collaborating with Primark to release a skincare range, I was understandably thrilled. I've never been terribly loyal to skincare - I moisturised every morning, but that's about it (don't hate me!). But at 25, I figured this is the year I need to pull my finger out and start looking after my skin - and the Alex Steinherr X Primark range ticked all the boxes.

In the range, there are five separate collections, each geared towards a different requirement of your skin, with a few products in. My skin tends to be a little bit of a combination between lots of different skin types, so I figured I'd give something a go from each different collection.

Maximum Moisture - Moisture-Locking Everyday Moisturiser - £5
My new daily moisturiser, designed to maximise the moisture taken in by your skin. I suffer with psoriasis, and sometimes this means my face gets overly dry. I'm always on the lookout for something that will replace the moisture I'm losing and this seems to be doing the trick. It's quite a thick moisturiser, which I like because I feel like it's going to do something for me, but it's easy to work into the skin. I do think my skin is feeling more moisturised, and it sits really nicely under my makeup. A good buy, I'd say.

Pollution Solution - Daily Skin Starter - £5
This was a product that really grabbed my attention when I browsing the stand. I'd never really heard of anything like this product, but knew that protection from pollution is always a good idea when it comes to your skin. This is a primer that provides that anti-pollution action, while also helping to smooth texture and reveal skin's radiance. The skin gods know I need that. Anything that's going to make my skin look glowing before I apply any foundation. As well as all that good stuff, the Daily Skin Starter also primes the skin ready for improved makeup application and wear. And I'd say that this is definitely a claim that, for me, it lives up to. My makeup has been sitting nicely and survives pretty well during a full working day - surely that's something to do with my primer! A definite yes from me!

Pore Balance - Super Detox Clay Mousse Face Mask - £5
I love a face mask. There's something about smothering your face in something that's, typically, an odd colour, and soaking in a hot bubble bath. Total relaxation. The clay masks are known for being great at extracting all the nasties out of your skin, and I am all for that. It's really satisfying to see the mask getting to work. I'll be the first to admit that over the course of the week, my skin takes quite the battering with makeup, and I may not cleanse my skin as much as I should - yet, I'm working on it. This is my go-to at the weekend to give a purifying and balancing deep skin cleanse before I pile on the makeup again. I really like it, and think it's doing a great job at keeping my skin clear.

Plump & Glow - The Power Mask - £3
Another mask, this time a sheet mask. I love a sheet mask, even if they are slightly scary when you catch sight of yourself in the mirror. They are super convenient when you feel like your skin needs a little boost, but you have a time restriction. Just open the packet, fit the mask and wait - perfect. This one is a little different to the rest of the gang, this has two steps. First up, you apply a plumping essence booster (sounds fancyyy). Then you apply the hydrating sheet mask for 20 minutes. I am all for plumper, more hydrated skin. I can't wait to try this one out - I've got high hopes seeing as the rest of the items I've tried have performed so well.

Sleep Spa - Overnight Lip Mask - £4
This has been an absolute god-send since I picked it up. This brutally cold weather we've been having recently has done my lips absolutely no favours whatsoever. They're terribly dry and chapped, meaning no lip colours ever look decent. Then I started using this religiously and oh-my-goodness, hydrated, soft lips were mine. This is super thick, and feels like it's going to do you good as soon as you put it on. I wish I could smother my whole body in it. I'd thoroughly recommend picking this up if you struggle with dry lips - I should really stock up so I'm never without it.

I think the Alex Steinherr X Primark range is such a fabulous release. The whole collection has been really well thought out, and the packaging is sleek and stylish. And what's even better? Every item in the whole collection is £5 or under. It's a breath of fresh air to have skincare that seems to be doing a good job for my skin, without having to sell an arm and a leg to afford it. Hopefully, my skin carries on enjoying the products, and I can keep using them!
