Spookathon TBR

I very rarely participate in readathons, but one I always follow and want to join is the Spookathon, held by Kayla over at BooksandLala. A spooky readathon in the run up to Halloween? Yes please. This year, especially, I have got a real urge to read all my mysteries and thrillers now that autumn has finally arrived, so I thought this year could be the perfect opportunity to participate in the readathon. Spookathon runs from tomorrow (October 14th) until October 20th, and there are five challenges to complete. While I will not be able to read five different books alongside working, I've compiled a list of three books I'd love to get to this week which meet the criteria!

Sometimes I Lie - Alice Feeney
Challenges - Read a thriller - Read a book with a spooky word in the title
This one might be slightly cheating as I have already made a start on this one, but I've still got a fair bit left before I finish, so it'll be one I am definitely reading during Spookathon. This is a thriller that I first discovered on Kayla's YouTube and I was really interested. Then when my friend Tanya bought it to our monthly book swap and told me to read it, I couldn't resist. It follows Amber, who we discover is in a coma, but she's not sure how she got there. The book flits between present day, before her accident and back to her childhood, which I really enjoy. She's not sure who to trust or what happened to her, and right now, I trust no one! I'm really enjoying it and can see why Tanya said I'd enjoy it!
The Last - Hanna Jameson
Challenges - Read a book with a spooky setting - Read a book with red on the cover
I won't lie, I mainly picked this one next as you could not get a more red cover than this, so tick that challenge off. It also has a spooky setting - there's been a nuclear disaster and there's a group of 20 people in a remote location, who survive. As if the near end of humanity isn't scary enough, there's also a killer amongst them, who is starting to pick of the survivors, one by one. If that's not spooky, I don't know what is.
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina - Roberto Aguirre-Sacsa
Challenges - Read a book with a spooky word in the title - Read a book with red on the cover - Read something you wouldn't normally read
My last pick for Spookathon is The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. It ticks the boxes for three challenges, a spooky word in the title (I'm using Chilling for this), and it's something I wouldn't usually read - a graphic novel. I've read very few graphic novels, maybe one or two, but I love the Netflix adaptation and wanted to read the graphic novels it stems from. This looks so scary, and if it's anything like the show, it will be much gorier and scarier than Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Perfect for a spooky readathon. I'm hoping that this shorter format will help me pick up the pace, so that I can at least have started three books in the week - a girl can hope.

So, they are my three books to help me attempt the five challenges for Spookathon. Obviously, I'm still teaching full time this week, so can't dedicate all my time to reading (as much as I would like to), but I'm going to give it a good go.

Will you participate in Spookathon? What are some of your favourite thrillers?
